~ Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

~ Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Clean hands and face are essential to help prevent infection when popping a pimple.

~ Soak a soft washcloth in warm water. Apply the cloth directly to the pimple for about a minute.

OR ~ Disinfect a sharp needle with rubbing alcohol and prick the pimple very gently.

~ Using your clean fingers or a gauze pad positioned between your fingers, squeeze the top and bottom of the pimple. This pushes the debris and fluid to the center of the pimple. It is essential that you do this gently when popping a pimple. It should not be forced. If the pimple does not release the content within 2-3 gentle tries it is not ready to be popped. Continued attempts may result in scarring.

After popping a pimple

~ Dab the area gently with rubbing alcohol, a cleansing pad or witch hazel. Be careful not to rub.

~ Using your pinky gently apply a small dab of an acne spot treatment to the area where you popped the zit. Or apply a small dab of a topical antibiotic such as polysporin to the area.

~ Before applying any products such as makeup, be sure the area has dried.
